Construction starts on brand new incubator units at Churchfield Business Centre.
Construction is underway on Churchfield Business centre; the 29 new business incubator units that will be available for small and start-up businesses.
The scheme has been in the works for a long time, and was delayed due to COVID-19, but ground has now been broken on the project. The work is due to be completed in late summer 2022, will be done by local construction company Westridge Construction Ltd and will be managed by sustainable building specialists Allen Construction Consultancy Limited.
Cllr Paul Barnett, lead for regeneration, said
“With COP26 having recently finished, it’s a great time to emphasise how the council is making sure its projects are sustainable. The incubator units will be built to a high sustainability standard and will have all sorts of features in place to encourage greener working, like electric vehicle charging points and extensive energy efficiency measures in place.
“It’s great to see the concept start to become a reality, and I look forward to seeing these units become bustling with local small businesses in the near future.”
The project has been developed with funding and support from the South East Local Enterprise Partnership; partly funded by European Structural and Investment Funds via the Connecting Hastings and Rother Together (CHART) programme; and the council’s own Capital Programme and the recently announced Town Fund Programme (subject to business case approval).
